Todd D. Lee

Shareholder; Financial Institutions and Real Estate

Todd is a shareholder in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is based in our Minneapolis office and is a member of the Financial Institutions and Real Estate Section. Todd practices primarily in the areas of:

Todd’s work experience has included representing banks and other financial institutions in structuring, negotiating and documenting a variety of commercial finance transactions. He has extensive experience representing borrowers in complex financing transactions, including multistate real estate transactions, acquisition financings and asset-based loans. Most recently, he has represented institutional lenders in the origination of asset-based loans, securitizable credit arrangements and complex loan restructuring transactions. He also recently worked with a large national client to create an equipment leasing program for one of its product lines.

Todd has experience representing lead lenders in multibank, syndicated credit facilities, and also both lenders and borrowers in connection with mortgage warehouse lines of credit and loan purchase/sale transactions. His commercial lending experience also includes representing banks and other financial institutions in franchise finance transactions, construction and permanent real estate financing transactions, tax-exempt financings involving the issuance of letters of credit, and workouts of troubled credits. Todd has helped to develop comprehensive form loan documents and loan closing/administration procedures for several of his local commercial lending clients and regularly counsels clients and personnel on legal issues relating to commercial finance.

In addition, Todd has represented a variety of companies in connection with commercial real estate purchases and sales, commercial lease transactions and equipment leasing matters. He has been named a "Rising Star" by Minnesota Law & Politics.

Born in Fargo, North Dakota, Todd received his B.A. summa cum laude in accounting and philosophy from Concordia College and is licensed as a certified public accountant. He received his law degree magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. Todd joined Briggs in 1999.
