Tom is a shareholder in Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is a member of the Financial Institutions and Real Estate Section, and is certified as a real property law specialist by the Real Property Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association. Tom is also a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. He practices principally in the areas of:
Tom represents private landowners in real estate acquisition, sale, ground lease, lease and financing transactions. Tom also provides real estate support for the firm’s Public Finance Section and has served as special counsel to numerous cities in connection with various real estate development projects.
Tom has served on the Minnesota Common Interest Ownership Act (MCIOA) Committee of the Real Property Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association since 1989 and, in that capacity, has participated in the drafting of the Minnesota Common Interest Ownership Act and its subsequent amendments. Tom is vice chair of the MCIOA committee and devotes a significant portion of his practice to representing developers of residential and mixed use common interest communities.
Born in Roseville, Minnesota, Tom received his B.A. from the University of Minnesota and his law degree magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. He was an associate articles editor for the Minnesota Law Review and elected to Order of the Coif. He has been listed in Minnesota Super Lawyers (as seen in Minnesota Law & Politics ) for real estate. He joined Briggs in 1988.
