Shareholder; Employment, Benefits and Labor
Sally is a shareholder in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. She is a member of the Labor and Employment Section, as well as the firm’s Health Care Practice Group. Sally practices principally in the areas of:

Nonprofit law, including health care organization matters
Sally is a Minnesota State Bar Association Certified Labor and Employment Law Specialist and provides counseling and training to management on employment law issues. She works with employers on structuring, drafting and implementing employment-related policies and agreements, and counsels management on personnel decisions. She also provides ongoing representation to several health care organizations and counsels health care clients and other nonprofit organizations on employment and consulting agreements; compensation; HIPAA compliance and privacy issues; and human resource matters, including those involving professional and facility licensing. In addition, Sally regularly represents executives and management in connection with employment, separation, non-compete and compensation issues.
Sally handles cases in both state and federal courts in Minnesota and in jurisdictions outside of Minnesota. She is admitted to practice in the courts of Minnesota and has been admitted in many federal district courts and courts of appeal in other jurisdictions. She assists employers in matters brought before the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Sally has co-authored articles on non-compete covenants, workplace communications, and False Claims Act cases. She received Minnesota Justice Foundation's 2011 Distinguished Service Award for her substantial contributions to the community. Sally chairs the board of the Illusion Theater and School and is on the Neighborhood House board. She is past chair of the Minnesota Supreme Court appointed Legal Services Advisory Committee and recently completed her term on the statewide planning committee for legal services. She also is a former board member of Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMLRS), where she remains a volunteer. She is a past recipient of the 21st Century Leadership Award from the Campaign for Legal Aid.
Sally is a member of the Minnesota State, Ramsey County and Federal bar associations, as well as Minnesota Women Lawyers. Sally received her B.A. from Lawrence University and her law degree cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law. She joined Briggs in 1980.
