Sam Hanson Elected To American Academy of Appellate Lawyers

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Briggs and Morgan shareholder and board of directors member Sam Hanson was recently elected to the exclusive American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.

Founded in 1990, the Academy recognizes outstanding appellate lawyers and promotes the improvement of appellate advocacy and the administration of the appellate courts. Academy membership is limited to only 500 U.S.members, each demonstrating a substantial focus on appeals during at least the last 15 years.

A member of Briggs and Morgan’s Appellate Practice Group, Hanson practiced law with Briggs and Morgan for 34 years before he was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2000, followed by a five-year appointment to the Minnesota Supreme Court in 2002. He then rejoined Briggs and Morgan in the Business Litigation Section and Energy Law Group, and practices principally in arbitration and mediation, complex civil litigation, appellate law and public utility regulation. A former litigation section head and firm president, Hanson has extensive experience in both the state and federal courts in Minnesota, as well as courts in many other states in the region.
