At Briggs and Morgan, our lawyers have successfully addressed environmental issues for more than 25 years. We frequently counsel private and public clients who are affected by local, state and federal environmental laws and regulations, helping to avoid or minimize environmental liability in conjunction with developmental construction projects, real estate matters and financial transactions.

Several of our attorneys have previously worked in the public sector, yielding substantial experience and knowledge of environmental law and the viewpoints of both the government and private businesses. We have broad, senior-level corporate proficiency in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policy development and implementation, as well as EHS auditing.

In our environmental law practice, we advise clients on air, water, recycling, hazardous and solid waste permits and regulatory compliance matters; transactional due diligence; purchase and sale of real estate businesses; land use and zoning permits, regulations, and environmental impact statements; hazardous waste litigation; financial transactions; policy development and implementation; environmental audit programs; wetland protection, brownfields development; required securities disclosures; environmental issues corresponding with bankruptcy; insurance coverage; federal and state Superfund, and private cost recovery claims and litigation; environmental dispute resolution (and appropriate litigation); and other issues affecting real property.

Briggs has been involved in several recent client matters, providing advice involving Clean Air Act new source review issues; environmental audit reviews; voluntary site remediation; environmental insurance, remediation cost cap, pollution legal liability and lender environmental collateral protection; purchase and development of a large manufacturing site in the Twin Cities North Metro area; construction loan for large multi-family residential project in downtown Minneapolis; health and safety audit reviews; various claims and litigation on environmental matters; mass toxic tort litigation; remediation claims throughout the United States; EPA Region V administrative complaint regarding alleged Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) violations.

At Briggs and Morgan, our environmental attorneys have the management, organizational and legal skills to help minimize the time and cost involved in these otherwise complex matters.
