Michael Miller Featured in Twin Cities Business Article, “The Blended Workforce”

Michael Miller was interviewed for the July 2017 issue of Twin Cities Business. In the article, “The Blended Workforce,” Michael discusses the legal risks in contracting, and provides a summary of the latest Department of Labor guidelines.

“Whether a worker is an independent contractor or an employee is not a choice left up to the company,” Miller says. That determination is based on applicable legal factors. A primary factor is whether the company has the right to control the means and manner by which the work is being performed. “If they feel the answer to that is yes, more likely than not they have an employee,” Miller says. “And by calling them a freelancer, they’re taking a risk.”
