MPR article, “Judge weighs disclosure of Minnesota’s pitch to Amazon,” details attorney arguments before a the Ramsey County court regarding the lawsuit filed by Public Record Media (PRM) requesting that the court require the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and Greater MSP to release Greater MSP’s proposal for a second Amazon headquarters in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.

Briggs attorneys, Dan Supalla and Erin Altman, represent Greater MSP and argued to dismiss the case because Greater MSP – a private, non-profit organization – is not subject to the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, and because the release of Greater MSP’s work product has the potential to put the region at a future disadvantage when competing for similar projects in the future. They also presented evidence to the court that all government data that was used to prepare the bid has already been provided to PRM.

"We understand there's a lot of interest in the case because it involves Amazon," Supalla told the judge. "But, really, the issues you're going to have to decide involve something not as glamorous."
