Briggs and Morgan Welcomes Five Associates

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Briggs and Morgan welcomes attorneys Jerome Borden, Lisa Colburn, Brett Hebert, Amarachi Ihejirika and Bryce Jasper, all of whom join the firm as associates.

Borden is a member of the Business Law section. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School, magna cum laude, in 2016, where he was a note and comment editor for the Minnesota Law Review. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business in finance, with high distinction, from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. He also earned a Master of Business Administration, with a management concentration, with distinction, from the University of Iowa’s Henry B. Tippie School of Management. Prior to law school, Borden was an officer in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Marine Officer Instructor for the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps at Iowa State University, and as a platoon commander and company executive officer in 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment.

Colburn is a member of the Intellectual Property group. She earned her J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where she was an editor of the Mitchell Hamline Law Review. During law school, Colburn externed for the Honorable Michael J. Davis, Chief U.S. District Judge for the District of Minnesota, and volunteered for the Ramsey County Self-Help Clinic and Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans Legal Clinic. She earned her bachelor's degree in biology with an emphasis in field biology, magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Hebert is a member of the Business Law section. He earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, where he served as the development editor of the Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property. During law school, Hebert clerked at the Legal Council for Health Justice, as well as the Office of General Counsel for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Prior to law school, he worked as a project manager and team lead at Epic Systems, where he managed the implementation of Epic’s electronic medical record system at multiple enterprise client sites across the United States.

Ihejirika is a member of the Energy group. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2016. There, she served as president of the Black Law Students Association, and as a student director for the Community Mediation Clinic and for the Maynard Pirsig Moot Court. During law school, Ihejirika worked as a summer law clerk at Greene Espel, PLLP. Most recently, and prior to joining Briggs, she was a legal intern at Ever-Green Energy, Inc. in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She earned her B.A., summa cum laude, in sociology from York University.

Jasper is a member of the Business Litigation section. He earned his J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, summa cum laude, where he was an assistant editor of the Mitchell Hamline Law Review, president of the Litigation Society, and associate director of the William Mitchell Self-Help Clinic. He was a finalist in the Rosalie Wahl Moot Court Competition and served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Steven E. Rau in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. He also received a CALI award in contracts and the Burton Award for Excellence in Legal Writing during law school. While in law school, Jasper worked for the Minnesota Public Defender’s Appellate Office writing appellate briefs and representing clients in Morrissey Hearings. He also clerked for the Anoka County Public Defender’s Office where he was able to regularly appear in district court. He earned his bachelor’s degree from City University of New York. Prior to law school, Jasper was a local actor and singer, and served as a C-130 Crew Chief for the Minnesota Air National Guard.
