Briggs and Morgan Welcomes Fall Associates

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Briggs and Morgan is pleased to welcome five fall associates: Samuel Aintablian II, Erin Altman, Adam Chandler, Ruvin S. Jayasuriya and Lauren E. Pockl.

Aintablian is a member of the Business Law section. Prior to joining the firm, he clerked for the Honorable Alan C. Page at the Minnesota Supreme Court. Aintablian graduated from Northwestern University School of Law, cum laude, in 2014, where he was the articles editor of the Journal of Law and Social Policy. He also served as the academic chair of the Black Law Students Association and the outreach director of the African Legal Library Project.

Aintablian earned his Bachelor of Arts in sport management and economics, magna cum laude, from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. Prior to law school, he was a fan-services representative for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Altman is a member of the Business Litigation section. She graduated from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis in 2015, where she was a member of the Washington University Global Studies Law Review and earned a CALI award in Topics in Investment Banking. Altman earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, with distinction, with a concentration in finance and organization and management, from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.

Prior to law school, she worked as an investment banking analyst for Robert W. Baird & Co. and as an account specialist focusing on the food and beverage industry at The NPD Group. 

Chandler is a member of the Business Litigation section. He graduated from William Mitchell College of Law, summa cum laude, in 2015, where he served as a staff member and editor of the William Mitchell Law Review, externed for the Honorable Tony N. Leung in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and was the vice president of the Fighting Eelpouts hockey team. In 2014, Chandler represented William Mitchell in the New York Bar Association’s National Moot Court Competition. That same year, he and his moot court partner won the Rosalie Wahl Moot Court Competition.

While in law school, he worked for the Minnesota Public Defender’s Appellate Office writing post-conviction petitions and appellate briefs. In that role, Adam was able to appear in both district court and in the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Chandler earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in business economics and in management, magna cum laude, from the University of North Dakota. Prior to law school, he worked as a medical records intern and fabricated aircraft parts.

Jayasuriya is a member of the Business Litigation section. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2015, where he participated in the Law Council and the law school’s National Moot Court team. He was a summer associate at Briggs in 2013 and 2014.

Jayasuriya earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from Temple University. Prior to law school, he worked as an account executive for Market Resource Partners.

Pockl is a member of the Energy section. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota, where she captained the softball team, and her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law, summa cum laude, where she was a member of the William Mitchell Law Review. While attending law school, Pockl was a judicial extern for the Honorable Tony N. Leung of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, an intern at the United States Attorney’s Office and was the executive director of the William Mitchell Self-Help Clinic.

Pockl was a summer associate at Briggs in 2013 and joined the firm after a clerkship with Judge Margaret H. Chutich, Judge Matthew E. Johnson and Judge John R. Rodenberg at the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Prior to law school, she taught English in South Korea.
