Briggs and Morgan proudly supported the 2016 BOLD Awards program as a sponsor of the nominee reception hosted by the Minnesota chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth® (ACG). The BOLD Awards celebrate the corporate leaders and teams behind successful mergers and acquisitions, financing and extraordinary strategies that led to sustainability, remarkable performance and/or accelerated growth. Briggs congratulates each of the nominees, finalists and winners of the BOLD Awards and, in particular, two of the firm’s clients: ASPIRE Beverage Company and Patterson Companies.

ASPIRE Beverage Company won in the early-stage category for its innovation and growth. ASPIRE Beverage Company was founded in 2012 by two hockey dads on a mission to bench sugary sports drinks. The pair used a combination of expertise in operations, product development, supply chain, manufacturing, sales, marketing and business development, to create ASPIRE, a natural, good-for-you, sports drink. ASPIRE Beverage Company has since built its brand with innovative co-marketing partnerships, teaming up with numerous like-minded organizations including professional and amateur sports leagues and teams, youth associations and various businesses. Fueled with better-for-you ingredients and recognition from national organizations, the company positioned itself for future sales and substantial business growth. In less than three years, the company has expanded from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Denver, Dallas, Madison, Milwaukee, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., with plans for additional national expansion in 2016. Currently, ASPIRE is sold at schools, sports venues, health clubs and other locations nationwide. Throughout 2016, beverages will be sold at several more grocery and convenience chains.

"Briggs is proud to partner with the entire visionary team at ASPIRE as they continue to grow, competing with – and winning against – the best-known brands in the sports drink business” said Briggs attorney Steve Kozachok.

Patterson Companies received dual honors by winning the 2016 Corporate Large category and being named “The Boldest of the Bold” – the program’s highest honor. Patterson was recognized for the multifaceted transactions it completed in 2015. In particular, Patterson expanded upon its already-existing companion animal business by acquiring Animal Health International, a leading production animal health distribution company, for $1.1 billion, while at the same time selling its rehabilitative supply business, Patterson Medical Holdings, for $715 million. With the acquisition of Animal Health International, Patterson more than doubled the size of its animal health business. Completion of the transactions allow Patterson to pursue future growth in its dental and animal health markets, while increasing the range of products available to its current and future customers.

“We are honored to work with Patterson Companies and are thrilled that its transformative moves have been recognized by the broader business community as the ‘Boldest of the Bold’,” said Briggs attorney Brett Anderson
