Briggs Elects Three New Shareholders

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. (August 22, 2019) –  Briggs and Morgan is pleased to announce the election of three new shareholders: Joe Dunham, Jing Jin, and Kathryn Short. All were associates at the firm.

Joe Dunham is a member of the firm’s Business Law section and focuses his practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, banking, corporate and business counseling, and venture capital. Joe represents both strategic and financial buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions.  Joe’s banking practice includes bank mergers and acquisitions and regulatory advice. He also works with closely-held businesses, advising them on ownership, governance and operations matters. Joe is outside general counsel to several start-up companies, advising them on capital raises, corporate governance, and commercial matters.

Jing Jin is a member of the Finance & Restructuring section and represents all types of lenders and borrowers in complex financing facilities and structured lending transactions, including asset-based lending, syndicated credit facilities, traditional commercial lending and commercial real estate lending. Prior to joining Briggs, Jing was a member of the global finance group at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago, where she worked extensively in the areas of fund financings, warehouse programs, structured receivables finance transactions and asset-backed securities across a wide range of asset-types.

Kathryn Short is a member of the Business Litigation section with experience in general business litigation, including construction, employment, and transportation-related matters. While at Briggs, Kathryn has litigated cases through trial, achieved dismissals through motion practice, and obtained favorable mediation results. Prior to joining Briggs, Kathryn clerked for the Honorable Charles R. Wilson at the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.  She received her B.A. from Boston College, her M.Ed. from the University of Notre Dame, and her J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law.  Before law school, Kathryn taught high school English in both Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Burnsville, Minnesota.
