MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. (April 19, 2011) – Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association is pleased to announce that shareholder Kevin M. Decker has been honored with the International Municipal Lawyers Association’s Amicus Service Award. The award is given to those who are actively involved in legal advocacy for, and on behalf of, local government and the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA).
Decker is a member Briggs’ Business Litigation and Appellate Practice Group and has a wide range of experience in highly complex litigation matters, including representing businesses in toxic tort, unfair competition, and merger and acquisition disputes, as well as lenders and others in fraudulent transfer and related claims litigation. He has worked extensively on matters before the federal and state appellate courts and on several certiorari petitions and oppositions at the U.S. Supreme Court.
Decker has been named a "Minnesota Rising Star" in Super Lawyers Magazineand an "Up and Coming Attorney" by Minnesota Lawyer. He also has served as an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law, teaching federal jurisdiction. He received his B.S.B in accounting with distinction from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and his law degreemagna cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law, where he served as an assistant editor for the William Mitchell Law Review. Decker joined Briggs in 2002.
