MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. (March 19, 2014) – Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association, welcomes David Clark, shareholder, and Ben Klocke, associate, to the firm. Both are based in the Minneapolis office.
Clark and Klocke have joined the firm’s Financial Institutions and Real Estate section, where they are among the section’s 28 attorneys who primarily focus on transactions in asset-based and commercial lending, mezzanine finance, mortgage warehousing and investment real estate for top companies in Minnesota and across the country.
Clark joins Briggs and Morgan from Faegre Baker Daniels, where he was a partner in the finance and restructuring group. He represents banks and other financial institutions, investors and borrowers in a wide range of domestic and cross-border financing transactions, including commercial and asset-based loans, syndicated credit facilities, subordinated debt, leveraged acquisition financings and project financings.
Clark also advises financial institutions and corporations in connection with swaps, hedges and other derivative transactions.
Clark earned his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1990, magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in 1984. He attended the Universite de Paris-Sorbonne where he earned his master’s degree in 1987.
He is licensed to practice in Minnesota and New York.
Klocke joins Briggs and Morgan from the Omaha, Neb.-based law firm Baird Holm LLP, where he was an associate in the banking and real estate groups. He represents banks and institutional lenders in all aspects of structuring, negotiating and documenting of real estate and asset-based loan transactions.
Klocke also represents clients in the acquisition, sale and leasing of commercial and agricultural property.
Admitted to practice in Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska, Klocke earned his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2007. He earned his master’s of business administration from the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa and his bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from Iowa State University.
