Steven J. Wagenheim – 2007 Emerging Winner
President, Chief Executive Officer, Director
Granite City Food & Brewery
Steven’s original concept of made-from-scratch food and beer, coupled with innovative practices in patented beer micro-brewing and employee training, has helped to grow Granite City Food & Brewery to 18 locations since 1999 (there are seven scheduled for 2007). The first Granite City opened in St. Cloud , Minn., introducing Steven’s development strategy of targeting smaller non-traditional markets. As evidence of its success, annualized revenues for the chain are estimated to soar over $100 million in 2007. Steven is Ernst & Young’s 2007 Emerging Winner.
Daniel J. Murphy – 2007 Technology Winner
Chairman, Chief Executive Officer
Alliant Techsystems, Inc.
Alliant Techsystems (ATK) was looking for a boost when Admiral Murphy, a 30-year U.S. Navy veteran, took its reins in 2003. His leadership has brought about a transformation, where ATK is now a prime contractor for many of its clients in the military, commercial and space industries, and is considered a go-to firm for cutting edge weapons and space technology. Under Dan’s guidance, the company’s revenue and stock price have soared. Dan is Ernst & Young’s 2007 Technology Winner.
Dennis J. Doyle – 2007 Real Estate Winner
Chief Executive Officer
When Dennis first bought Welsh Construction, it was heading in the direction of real estate development. However, being adaptive to market activity during several key turning points in the company’s history, Dennis turned it into a property management firm and later, a full-service commercial real estate firm (with brokerage services). Today, WelshCo is one of the largest of its kind in the Twin Cities. Dennis is Ernst & Young’s 2007 Real Estate Winner.
The Entrepreneur of the Year awards began as a fledgling program in 1986. Today, it has expanded to more than 100 cities and more than 40 countries worldwide.
