Sam Hanson Receives St. Olaf's Distinguished Alumni AwardPrint PDFShare
St. Olaf College recently named Sam Hanson a Distinguished Alumni Award Honoree for his lifelong professional achievements. A profile of Hanson is featured in St. Olaf Magazine (Fall 2012) discussing his extensive legal career, including his experience on the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court. The article also highlights the importance Hanson places on family, as well as his involvement in numerous volunteer and community programs. He comments, “My values of public service and compassion were born in my family, but they blossomed at St. Olaf because of the culture of commitment to service and inclusiveness.”

Hanson is a member of Briggs and Morgan’s Business Litigation Section and Appellate Practice Group. He is a former president and vice president of the firm, as well as a former head of the Business Litigation Section and former member of the board of directors. He has extensive experience working closely with several major corporate clients, including telephone, gas and electric utilities; insurance companies; financial institutions; and multinational manufacturing and service corporations. Hanson joined Briggs in 1966.
