Thornton Named "Attorney of the Year," Hanson Honored for ServicePrint PDFShare
“Attorney of the Year” honorees were judged on a number of criteria, including the procurement of a successful result in case, professional leadership, participant in newsworthy events, public service and excellence in providing in-house legal services. For years, Thornton has led the defense of Canadian Pacific Railway against thousands of personal injury claims arising out of a massive derailment. He has been appointed four times to the Federal Magistrate Judge Selection Committee and in his community, Thornton has been available “on demand” for Cretin-Derham Hall’s legal problems for more than 15 years.
In addition to the “Attorney of the Year" award, Minnesota Lawyer’s editorial staff also selected five individuals to be singled out for their service to the profession. Among this distinguished group is former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Sam Hanson, who rejoined Briggs and Morgan at the start of the new year.
Thornton and Hanson will be recognized at an award dinner February 21 and highlighted in a special supplement in an upcoming issue.
