MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association is pleased to announce that litigator Timothy R. Thornton has been named an “Attorney of the Year” for 2007 by Minnesota Lawyer. Thornton was honored with other recipients at an award dinner Feb. 21, 2008.

Thornton’s recognition is based on his many years of legal work on behalf of Canadian Pacific Railway and specifically, his defense against thousands of personal injury claims that arose out of a 2002 train derailment in Minot, N.D. At least 1,500 cases have been favorably settled to date. Award criteria also emphasized service to the community, where Thornton has lent his legal skills to Cretin-Derham Hall administration for more than 15 years.
