Briggs Lawyer Named “Attorney of the Year”

Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association is pleased to announce that Minnesota Lawyer has named Jon Schmidt for the 2012 “Attorney of the Year,” an honor widely recognized and respected by the Twin Cities legal community. Schmidt is being honored for his work with the Appellate Public Defender Pilot Program, which assigns certain appeals of criminal trials from the Public Defender’s office to the associates of several Minnesota civil law firms.

Schmidt is a shareholder and member of the Business Litigation section and Appellate practice group and focuses on appellate law, and  railroad, business, mass tort, and toxic tort litigation. He has been named a “Rising Star” by Minnesota Super Lawyers and was named an “Up and Coming Attorney” by Minnesota Lawyer. Schmidt is the author of a chapter in the Eighth Circuit Practice Manual, and a co-author for an Art of Advocacy: Appeals chapter. He is the current chair of the MSBA Appellate Practice Section.
