Joseph P. Noack

Director; Shareholder; Business Law

Joe is a shareholder and director in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is a member of the Business Law Section and practices principally in the areas of:

  • Corporate and business law
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Business successions
  • LLCs and partnerships
  • Private placements
  • Emerging companies

Joe has been included on the "Super Lawyer" list published by Minnesota Law & Politics. He was also recognized as one of the top 40 lawyers in business and commercial law in 2005.

Joe has worked extensively advising business clients regarding:  general corporate, partnership, tax business structuring matters (i.e., buy/sell agreements, control agreements, family partnerships, joint ventures, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships); mergers and acquisitions; financings; private placements (i.e., partnership and corporate syndications); and planning and coordinating ownership succession in closely held businesses (i.e., family partnerships, limited liability companies, buy/sell arrangements, trust and insurance funding arrangements, deferred compensation, stock options).

Joe is a member of the Hennepin County, Minnesota State and Federal associations. He has lectured for continuing legal education courses on business acquisitions and partnership matters. He has served on the board of directors of the Minneapolis Athletic Club and was active in its Business Roundtable Program. He is also a former member and president of his parish's pastoral council. 

Born in Arlington, Minnesota, Joe graduated from St. John's University with a B.A. in economics and accounting. Following a tour in Vietnam as a U.S. Army armor officer, Joe received his law degree from Notre Dame Law School. He worked in business and tax planning at Arthur Andersen & Co. for two years before beginning his practice of law in 1977 with the law firm of Levitt, Palmer, which merged with Briggs in 1983.
