Client: Broker/Dealer
Represented a brokerage firm sued by an employee’s former employer for misappropriation of trade secrets, improper solicitation of clients and tortious interference with contract. Although the employment agreement at issue included an arbitration provision, the defendant filed a complaint in state court.

Relying on the doctrine of equitable estoppel, Briggs successfully moved to compel arbitration of the dispute even though the brokerage firm was not a signatory to the contract.
