Charlie is a shareholder in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and is the chair of the Litigation Department. Charlie’s trial practice includes:

Charlie has more than 28 years of experience litigating and trying cases involving a wide variety of claims and issues. Charlie has successfully represented numerous banks and lending institutions in pursuing both monetary and foreclosure remedies. He also has represented various businesses in commercial disputes ranging from purchase price adjustment claims to breach of asset purchase agreement claims to claims involving fraud and/or negligent misrepresentation in connection with business dealings. As part of his environmental practice, Charlie has successfully defended clients against claims of liability and responsibility for environmental contamination, and also has successfully pursued affirmative environmental claims against potentially responsible parties.

Charlie has been listed in Minnesota Super Lawyers and Chambers U.S.A., an independent guide to leading business lawyers. He also has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in commercial litigation. He has received a preeminent rating by a leading directory of the legal profession, which reflects the lawyer’s skills, nature of practice and other professional qualifications, as well as adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence and other criteria relevant to the discharge of professional responsibilities.

A member of the Minnesota State and American Bar associations, Charlie lectures frequently on topics involving complex commercial litigation. Charlie is a former member of the Briggs and Morgan board of directors and formerly served as the firm’s Loss Prevention Partner.

Charlie received his B.S. magna cum laude from Concordia College with degrees in hospital financial management, accounting and political science. He received his law degree cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. Charlie joined Briggs in 1981.
