Briggs Attorneys Help Organize Cinco de Mayo Celebration
Briggs and Morgan attorneys Phil Schenkenberg and Melitta George worked closely with St. Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation as pro bono legal counsel to help organize its upcoming Cinco de Mayo - West Side - St. Paul event. The Foundation chose to host the event this year when the previous organizers decided to discontinue their involvement. Schenkenberg regularly serves as pro bono legal counsel for the St. Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation, which also presents the Saint Paul Winter Carnival.
Cinco de Mayo – West Side – St. Paul will take place on Saturday, May 5th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. along Cesar Chavez Street on St. Paul’s West Side. This year marks the 150th anniversary of Cinco de Mayo, which was started by West Side residents to celebrate their Mexican heritage.
Briggs and Morgan is committed to providing legal services to low-income individuals, nonprofit and community organizations, and public interest causes. Our pro bono services range from direct legal work for the indigent to extensive assistance to the courts. The firm’s diverse provision of services aims to meet what we consider to be our highest professional obligation and we strongly encourage our attorneys to contribute at least 50 hours of pro bono services each year as aspired in the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct and the firm’s policy. Last year, Briggs and Morgan attorneys volunteered more than 6,000 hours of their time to various agencies and programs which serve the disadvantaged.
