Rick Mark previously served as the firm’s president from 2002-2007. He presently is general counsel for the firm. Rick is a member of the Business Litigation Section and his practice involves:

  • Corporate, partnership and other business disputes  
  • Legal malpractice defense 

Rick has served as lead counsel in numerous matters involving legal malpractice claims.

In his experience with securities litigation, Rick has successfully defended a $100 million securities fraud case. He also has defended an officer in securities derivative and class action litigation.

Rick recently won a jury trial for a bank in Wisconsin involving lender liability claims and obtained summary judgment for a large commercial tenant. Both decisions were affirmed on appeal.

Before joining Briggs, Rick handled civil and criminal litigation for the Minnesota attorney general’s office. He became the assistant solicitor general, where he was responsible for major civil and criminal litigation for the state. During his tenure, Rick tried a first-degree murder case and defended a major civil rights case.
