Summary

Paul is a member of the Commercial Litigation and Employment & Labor Relations practice groups, where he represents clients in a broad range of business and commercial disputes in Minnesota state and federal court, and in other courts across the country. Paul has particular experience representing construction clients, business owners, and closely held companies and their members/partners. Paul has extensive experience in all aspects of litigation, including developing case strategy at the pleading stage, effectively managing the discovery process, participating in mediations and arbitrations, briefing and arguing dispositive and non-dispositive motions, trying cases, and defending favorable results on appeal.

Paul also represents multiemployer retirement and health plans and their trustees on compliance with a variety of federal laws, including ERISA, the Affordable Care Act, and the Internal Revenue Code. As part of a team that serves as outside general counsel to boards of trustees and plan administrators, Paul advises on fiduciary matters and works with investment managers, healthcare service providers, consultants, actuaries, and other professionals to meet the needs of the plans and their trustees.

Paul devotes significant time to pro-bono representations through the Volunteer Lawyers Network, the Children’s Law Center, and other local non-profit organizations.

Paul received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California.
