Maren Grier is a member of the Business Litigation section and practices principally in the areas of:

  • General commercial litigation
  • Insurance coverage litigation
  • Land use planning and zoning litigation

Insurance Coverage Litigation

In her insurance coverage practice, Maren has assisted in advising and advocating for corporate policyholders on a wide range of coverage issues. Her experience includes assisting in policy review and negotiation, insurance coverage analysis and recovery, and insurance coverage litigation. Maren has successfully advocated on behalf of corporate policyholder clients in both Minnesota state and federal courts, and recently assisted in obtaining summary judgment awarding coverage to a food distributor for its settlement of significant recall liabilities. Maren has experience seeking and obtaining coverage under a wide range of insurance policies, including general commercial liability policies, excess and umbrella policies, errors and omissions policies, and directors' and officers' liability policy. She has assisted in the representation of corporate policyholders in the food manufacturing and distribution and products manufacturing industries. 

Land Use Planning and Zoning Litigation

Maren has handled various matters for both corporate and individual clients in, among others, the waste, aggregate and agriculture industries. Her experience ranges from assisting in various administrative and regulatory proceedings, to vigorously litigating all manner of land use, zoning, and environmental disputes.

Maren also represents a broad range of individual and corporate clients in all manners of business and commercial disputes, including general contract disputes, employment and non-compete claims, ERISA claims, securities litigation, property damage disputes and appellate practice.

During law school, Maren served as the administrative director for the National Moot Court competition team and as a student director for the University of Minnesota Housing Clinic.
