Kathryn Short is a member of the Business Litigation section with experience in general business litigation, including construction, employment, and transportation-related matters. Kathryn has extensive experience in all phases of civil litigation from inception to trial.  She has appeared in state and federal courts in both Minnesota and North Dakota, as well as in other jurisdictions.  Her experience includes litigating cases through trial, briefing and arguing dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, identifying and developing expert witnesses on complicated causation and damages issues, and managing discovery in complex cases.

Kathryn has litigated matters involving breach of contract, the Federal Employer’s Liability Act (FELA), Federal Safety Appliance Act (FSAA), environmental torts, products liability, wrongful termination, and other complex issues.  Prior to joining the firm, Kathryn clerked for the Honorable Charles R. Wilson on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Tampa, Florida.

Kathryn is admitted to practice in Minnesota and Florida, as well as the United States District Courts for the Districts of Minnesota, North Dakota, and Southern District of Florida. Kathryn is also admitted in the Eighth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals.

Kathryn received her B.A. from Boston College and M.Ed. from the University of Notre Dame.  She attended the University of St. Thomas for law school.  Prior to law school, Kathryn taught high school English in both Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Burnsville, Minnesota.
